Inspired by Cycles of Illumination

David McDonough (@dedume) is an artist, educator, father, and husband who carries an enthusiastic amateur spirit into all his pursuits. David was born in Brooklyn but has been a member of the Sunnyside community for a decade and is proud to call the borough of the NY Mets his home. David is currently represented by Good Naked Gallery.

How do you define the invisible forces around you?

“Invisible forces are defined by the ways we perceive them… like leaves rustling letting us see and define ‘wind.’ Is any force truly invisible? It has to be sensed to be noticed and named.

I’d say that the process of defining invisible forces is about noticing and questioning… it’s a process of investigation. Invisible/unknown things can often be detected through their edges… so it may be about feeling out where something’s edges are. It can be a systematic process of experimentation or a more intuitive feeling process.”
